Indiantown began as a Seminole trading post, and white settlers followed in the 1890s. In 1924, Seaboard Air Line Railroad president S. Davies Warfield brought his line through town, hoping to make it the railroad's southern hub, and laid out a planned community with streets, a school, housing, and a station; his 1926 Seminole Inn on Warfield Boulevard is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1928 Okeechobee hurricane hit hard, the area remains in the heart of Florida's cattle and citrus country, and Indiantown became an incorporated village on December 31, 2017.
